President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting with the Ukrainian diaspora in New York, proposed introducing dual citizenship to Ukrainians living abroad, the press service of Ukrainian Presidential Office reported.

At the same time, Zelensky noted impossibility of granting dual citizenship to those people who live on the territory of unfriendly states, since this issue must be approached carefully and all difficult issues must be foreseen.

“This is a difficult question, but all the difficulties will be resolved with the help of our energy, our desire,” the president said.

According to the press service of the president, Zelensky, at a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in New York, focused on the importance of bringing peace back to Ukraine.

“All the forces and pressure of foreign representatives are needed here: of embassies, leaders of various states, leaders of churches – everyone who feels that they can do something to restore peace. Therefore, each of you should do everything possible to restore peace in our state,” said Zelensky.

The President also presented state awards to representatives of the Ukrainian community in the United States for their active work and noted that in many countries of the world, Ukrainians preserve long-term national traditions.

“I believe that you are our best ambassadors because you protect our state, our sovereignty, territorial integrity abroad,” he stressed.
