An adaptive quarantine has been introduced in all regions of Ukraine, except for three: Lviv, Rivne and Chernivtsi, and almost everywhere there has been a transition to the third stage of mitigation of restrictive measures. These are the results of a meeting chaired by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“At the meeting it was also noted that after the introduction of quarantine mitigations, there were no significant outbreaks of the disease in the country. Moreover, Ukraine has a plateau of morbidity. Some 388 people were discharged over the past day and 328 were diagnosed with COVID-19,” the president’s press service said on June 2.
Zelensky said Ukraine managed to pass the first wave of the pandemic relatively well, thanks to Ukrainian citizens and the deterrence strategy, which was thoroughly and carefully developed, as well as adaptive.
“Now we have experience, understanding and endurance, if the second wave comes. I hope humanity will be even more ready,” he said.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said that almost all hospitals have concluded agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine, and they are already transferring surcharges to doctors for fighting COVID-19. Now there are deliveries of large batches of medicines against various diseases that were purchased in previous years.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak said preparations are underway to open checkpoints on the contact line with Russia-occupied Donbas after June 10.
