President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law on the settlement of the issue of remuneration of employees of court staff, which the parliament adopted on June 17, 2021.

“The right to timely payment of wages is protected by law. But this right is systematically violated in relation to employees of the apparatus of the courts. So, for 2021, the declared financial provision of the justice system is only 38.4% of the necessary. The funds determined by the budget are not enough to pay wages to employees from the apparatus of local and appellate courts, even within the limits of mandatory minimum payments. The need for financial support of the courts is also noted by international institutions, indicating that the courts require sufficient resources,” the Office of the President reports.

Also, the law will allow to regulate the issues of remuneration of employees of the apparatus of courts and will provide appropriate conditions for the work of courts, which is guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine.

In particular, the document introduces changes to the national budget for the current year, increasing the expenses of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine under the program of provision of justice by local courts, courts of appeal and the functioning of bodies and Institutions of the justice system by Hr 742 million.

“This will partially solve the primary need to increase the volume of expenses for the payment of wages for employees of the court apparatus,” the statement says.

The law comes into force the next day after publication.

As reported, on June 17, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the national budget of Ukraine for 2021 on an increase in the cost of ensuring the administration of justice by local courts and courts of appeal.
