President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has held a telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, during which they discussed the unacceptability of the return of the Russian Federation to the G7.
“The head of state thanked Canada for its consistent position regarding the impossibility of Russia returning to the G7 under the aggression that continues in Donbas and the occupation of Crimea,” the Ukrainian president’s website reported on August 22.
Zelensky also noted that in a situation where Ukrainians continue to die, it is necessary not to return Russia to the G7, but “force it to fulfill its obligations.”
“Zelensky thanked Trudeau for his willingness to adhere to the same principled position on the unacceptability of the return of the Russian Federation to the G7, which he demonstrated during last year’s G7 summit in Canada,” the information says.
The President’s Office also reported that the head of the Ukrainian state and the Canadian Prime Minister had agreed to continue discussing the issues of counteracting the aggressive policy of Russia and protecting the interests of Ukraine after the G7 summit in France.
