President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with representatives of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the President’s Office of Ukraine’s activities in PACE.

According to the presidential press service, during the meeting, the head of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Maria Mezentseva said that the last trip of the Ukrainian delegation was very effective. She called the main achievement of the appeal against the powers of the delegation of the Russian Federation in PACE by the facts of violations that occur not only in Ukraine, but also in other states.

In addition, Mezentseva said that the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić is going to visit Ukraine.

“For us, the fundamental issue is to explain to PACE what the Crimean Platform is and invite the world community to join the restoration of international law and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

It is noted the invitation to the Crimean Platform was welcomed by many strategic and international friends of Ukraine, in particular the Baltic countries, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and many others.

According to Mezentseva, Ukraine in PACE ceases to be a country of “one issue” and takes the initiative of dialogue on many issues of the international agenda. In particular, the country is actively involved in promoting “environmental democracy.”

Zelensky said that Ukraine is restarting the competition for electing a judge to the European Court of Human Rights according to the rules in force in European institutions, and as soon as possible, Ukraine will be represented at the ECHR by a highly qualified judge with international experience.
