Kurdish YPG fighters have shot down a Turkish army helicopter near the northern Syrian town of Afrin, killing two soldiers on board, Turkey said on Saturday (February 10).

A picture taken on Feb. 10, from the Syrian village of Atme in the northwestern province of Idlib shows smoke plumes rising in the village of Deir Ballut in the Afrin region, where Turkish forces and allied Syrian rebel groups are conducting an offensive, following Turkish air strikes, according to local eyewitnesses.
