TBILISI – Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has supported the government’s decision to extend the state of emergency imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak until May 22.

“I have signed an order extending the state of emergency until May 22, 2020. It’s our common goal to survive this ordeal,” Zourabichvili said in a televised address on April 21.

The Georgian parliament will debate the president’s order extending the state of emergency until May 22 on April 22.

According to the Georgian Health Ministry, the country has seen 408 cases of COVID-19 thus far.
