TBILISI – The Georgian government will lift the ban on the movement of transport and will allow food markets to reopen on Monday, April 27, as part of steps to ease the restrictions earlier imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at a press briefing on April 24.

“We’ll begin lifting some restrictions on Monday. For instance, the movement of transport, including taxi services, will be resumed. Online trade will be allowed to resume in full, and outdoor agricultural markets will be allowed to reopen,” Gakharia said when presenting the government’s anti-crisis program.

Georgia has recorded 431 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Feb. 26, the Georgian Health Ministry said. A state of emergency declared due to COVID-19 has been extended until May 22. Georgia has also imposed general quarantine and a curfew.
