The police have detained 12 persons during an opposition demonstration near the Tbilisi headquarters of the Georgian Dream ruling party on July 12, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

“The detentions began after demonstration participants breached the public peace and the law on assembly and self-expression,” the ministry said.

As reported earlier, several dozens of supporters of opposition parties gathered near the Georgian Dream headquarters and started hurling spray cans with red paint and eggs at the building. The police detained the most active protesters.

Journalists from opposition television channels and members of opposition political parties have been protesting in Tbilisi for two consecutive days to demand the resignation of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
