TBILISI – Medical specialists in Georgia have detected another 15 people infected with the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 nationwide to 511, the Georgian Health Ministry said on April 28.

As many as 5,107 people have been placed in quarantine, and 534 remain under medical observation at inpatient hospitals; 156 people have recovered from COVID-19, and six others have died, the Health Ministry said.

Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said earlier that she doesn’t expect the number of newly-identified COVID-19 cases to grow significantly at the end of April and the beginning of May.

“Thanks to numerous measures taken, Georgia never has seen a spike in the spread of the infection; we’ve been in the plateau phase, which requires different measures and different management,” Tikaradze told journalists on April 27.
