Germany has detained five suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group alleged to be planning an attack on American military facilities and an unidentified individual.

Four of the suspects were arrested after dawn raids targeting several apartments and six other locations in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Another Tajik national was detained previously.
