At the dawn of a new, uncertain era, a handful of world leaders looked back to the end of an earlier one. In separate, socially distanced ceremonies, President Trump, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders in Europe marked the 75th anniversary of the Allied defeat of Nazi Germany in recent days. Wreaths were laid, somber speeches intoned, and promises made to “never forget.”
