Russia will deliver its top-line air defense system to Turkey by the middle of next year, according to officials from both countries, as Turkey moves ahead with the purchase despite threats by the United States to cancel its own sale of F-35 fighter jets to its NATO ally.
Confirmation of the delivery comes as the Trump administration says it is still negotiating for Turkey to buy a U.S.-made defense system, the Patriot. Turkey says it is happy to do so, if the terms are right, but that the Russian deal will still go forward.
