Russia's War Against Ukraine
OP-ED
Mark Adomanis: There are no good options in Ukraine, but a guerrilla war would be the worst
A picture shows destroyed houses in the village of Semyonovka, near the eastern Ukrainian city of Slovyansk, on August 7, 2014.
Over the past 48 hours it appears that Russia has been conducting a slow-motion invasion of Ukraine. It’s true that what is taking place is not entirely clear, creating confusion and disinformation is a basic part of Russian military doctrine, and the "fog of war" means that some of the information coming out of the region is contradictory and nonsensical. There is still the thinnest veneer of plausibility to arguments that what is taking place is primarily a domestic, Ukrainian, conflict and not an inter-state war.
