About the CSSF Ukraine Civil Society Support Project:
The British Embassy in Kyiv is pleased to announce a new project to support Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Ukraine. The project aims to support CSOs to continue operating during Russia’s invasion, so they can help save lives, reduce human suffering and build back better after the conflict. The project will consist of a grant making facility, together with the provision of technical support. The project is currently being managed by a consortium led Crown Agents, which includes International Alert and Optima.
Since Russia’s invasion CSOs have been on the frontlines of supporting their local communities emergency response and recovery efforts, while also laying the groundwork for Ukraine’s future by advocating for transparent, inclusive and accountable reconstruction. The British Embassy in Kyiv is keen to support and work alongside diverse CSOs representing women and marginalised groups, particularly people with disabilities, older persons, ethnic minorities, LGBTQI+ persons, and rural and hard-to-reach populations.
Position within the team:
The Gender and Social Inclusion Adviser will work exclusively on the CSSF Ukraine CSO Support project. They will provide technical support to the Project Director and Team Leader to ensure gender equality and social inclusion considerations are meaningfully integrated into the project’s design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
They will also provide technical support to grantees to strengthen their approach to gender equality and social inclusion. The Gender and Social Inclusion Adviser will report to the Project Director and Team Leader. Crown Agents Principal Consultant for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion will support and quality assure their work.
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years professional experience, with at least 7 years in the field of gender equality and social inclusion in development and/or fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
- Deep technical knowledge and understanding of gender and inclusion and current trends and approaches
- Prior experience working on social development and GESI in fragile and conflict-affected settings
- Prior experience integrating GESI into project design, implementation monitoring and evaluation
- Prior experience integrating GESI into approaches to fund management and grant-making
- Prior experience providing capacity-building support to CSOs and human rights activists.
Desirable Requirements:
- Prior experience working in Ukraine and Eastern Europe
- Fluency in Ukrainian
- Strong disability inclusion credentials and understanding of current state of disability rights in Ukraine
- Prior experience working with the FCDO and CSSF in a social development/ GESI advisory capacity
