Mercedes-Benz Kyiv Fashion Days

Designers from Ukraine and abroad will present their 2018 spring collections during this major fashion event in Kyiv, the Mercedes-Benz Kyiv Fashion Days, which kicks off on Aug. 30. Over fi ve days visitors will be able to attend workshops run by the Kyiv Fashion Institute and buy clothes by Ukrainian designers. The entrance is by invitations, which are available after registration at mbfwkiev.com.

Alt-J

English indie rock band Alt-J gives their fi rst performance in Kyiv on Aug. 28. The band won the 2012 British Mercury Prize and sold over 4 million records worldwide. The band will be playing songs from their last album “Relaxer” as well as older compositions.

Mini Boat Show

Praha Restaurant holds its annual show of model boats. Visitors can take part in a race of boat models and attend various family contests, take pictures in a photo zone and to ride electric motorcycles, electric bikes, gyroboards and Segways.

White Nights (party)

For those who love partying all weekend long, Platforma Art Factory will hold its annual White Nights party with food courts and four stages playing various genres of electronic music, such as Disco and Drum & Bass. Swiss band Kadebostany, Belgian DJ Apashe and UK band My Digital Enemy will be the event’s headliners.

‘Raving Iran’ (film)

The fi lm tells the story of two DJs in Tehran who run afoul of the local regime because electronic music is forbidden in their country. Both are invited to a major electronic festival in Switzerland, but have to decide whether to return home where they will face harassment by the authorities. The fi lm will be screened with English and Ukrainian subtitles.

Nalyvka Fest

Gallery Lavra will hold a festival devoted to nalyvka, a strong homemade fruit liqueur popular in Ukraine. Visitors will be able to taste different types of nalyvkas, listen to music, play drinking games, and try house cocktails from the bartenders of Kyiv bars. There will also be a makeshift photo exhibition, where organizers encourage guests to display their own pictures.
