A British alternative rock band Nothing But Thieves released on May 19 their new music video on a single “Amsterdam,” which was filmed in Ukraine.
The video features band members performing in an old abandoned factory with rusty metal bars and broken pieces of equipment lying around and people dancing inside or in front of Soviet-style buildings.
In the interview to NME music news website Nothing But Thieves’ front man Conor Mason said that the band came to Ukraine specifically for the venue, which is “an old, huge, broken-windowed factory from the Cold War” and that their director “was keen on it.”
Mason described “Amsterdam” as “angry, frustrating song” and said that “the surroundings here (in Ukraine) are exactly that. It almost weirdly feels unwelcoming, but it looks incredible.” The band did not reveal the city in which the video was shot.
The band got in the spotlight in 2015 with their self-titled album “Nothing But Thieves” which peaked at the third position on iTunes.
The band will perform in Kyiv on June 29 at the Atlas Weekend music festival held in Kyiv at VDNH on June 28 – July 2.

Apart from Nothing But Thieves, music videos in Ukraine filmed English indie rock band Foals, Danish singer Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted known as MØ, Australian rock band Tame Impala and others.
Daft Punk’s ex-manager Pedro Winter, who performs under the stage name Busy P, released in February his music video “Genie,” which features Kyiv’s clubs and underground.
