In addition to a tripartite meeting with US Vice President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during the Munich Security Conference President Petro Poroshenko's agenda included addressing the crowd at a diaspora rally in support of Ukraine.
Key reason for that – diaspora can attract attention to
Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine from within and promote its condemnation.
“Let the whole world hear the powerful voice of Ukraine – Ukraine will fight and Ukraine will certainly win,” Poroshenko said.
As Poroshenko was delivering a speech at the
Karlsplatz Square of Munich for Ukrainian diaspora, he said Ukraine
will return to peaceful life only when aggression ceases, invaders and
mercenaries leave Ukrainian territory and hostages are liberated, including
Nadiya Savchenko, who has been on a hunger strike for 57 days.
In response, the crowd chanted “Freedom to Savchenko!” and sang Ukrainian anthem.
