Firefighters, rain extinguish forest fires near Chornobyl

The massive fires in the Chornobyl exclusion zone had almost reached the plant itself. Firefighters struggled to contain them. People in Kyiv worried about radiation danger. Then, on April 14, Mother Nature stepped in with rain, helping the firefighters to contain the blaze.

As of April 14, firefighters continue to fight smaller pockets of flames that remain near Chornobyl.
