Ukrainian story behind Carol of the Bells

Despite this song’s worldwide popularity, many people have no idea that Carol of the Bells is the English-language version of the Ukrainian song “Shchedryk.” It was written by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych.

Jan. 23 marks 99 years since Leontovych was killed by a Soviet agent.
