Ukraine has identified 1,008 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on Aug. 10. There are currently 35,676 active cases across the country.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 25 deaths from COVID-19, 202 patients have been hospitalized and 387 people have recovered.

“We are witnessing a rise in patients seeking hospitalization, which is a worrying sign,” Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on Aug. 10.

The largest numbers of new cases were registered in Lviv Oblast (130), Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (121), Kharkiv Oblast (117) and Chernivtsi Oblast (108). Of all new COVID-19 cases, 65 were diagnosed among children and 42 among medical workers.

The total number of infections identified in the country since the start of the pandemic stands at 81,957. A total of 44,359 people have recovered and 1,922 have died of the disease.

In total, 10,083 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours, Stepanov said during a briefing on Aug. 10. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 3,218 antibody tests (ELISA).

Since Aug. 3, new rules for COVID-19 quarantine have come into force in Ukraine: Communities, rather than entire regions, are now divided into green, yellow, orange and red levels of severity of COVID-19 spread. The authorities in districts, cities and towns will have to tighten or relax quarantine restrictions in accordance with these categorizations. The levels are based on four indicators that will be reviewed every five days.
