Ukraine has identified 1,112 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on Aug. 2. There are currently 30,900 active cases across the country and 4,625 people are receiving treatment in hospitals, including 128 patients on lung ventilators.
The largest numbers of new cases were registered in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (115), Lviv Oblast (112), and Kyiv city (110).
Lviv Oblast leads the tally with the highest number of active cases per 100,000 people (285.1), followed by Zakarpattia Oblast (238) and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (218.5), according to the Center for Public Health.
The total number of infections identified in Ukraine since the start of the pandemic stands at 72,168. A total of 39,543 people have recovered and 1,725 have died of the disease.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 16 deaths from COVID-19, 209 patients have been hospitalized and 235 have recovered.
In total, 12,403 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 4,334 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on August 2.
The health ministry also released an updated list of “green” and “red” countries. Foreigners arriving in Ukraine from the green zone countries have to present medical insurance covering COVID-19. Those coming from the red zone have to have medical insurance and either take a PCR test or self-quarantine for 14 days with a tracking app Diy Vdoma.
