Ukraine has identified 1,670 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during his morning briefing on Aug. 26. As of 9 a.m., there are 54,277 active cases across Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 36 deaths from COVID-19, 467 patients have been hospitalized and 584 people have recovered.
The largest numbers of new cases were recorded in Odesa (186), Ternopil (181), Kharkiv (177), Lviv (171), Chernivtsi (170), Ivano-Frankivsk (167) and Kyiv (96) oblasts and the city of Kyiv (95).

During the past 24 hours, laboratories have administered 15,800 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests across the country, Stepanov said during his briefing. Additionally, they also carried out 17,422 antibody tests (IFA).
The total number of infections identified in the country since the start of the pandemic stands at 110,085. A total of 53,454 people have recovered and 2,354 have died of the disease.
Since Aug. 3, new rules for Ukraine’s COVID-19 quarantine have come into force: communities, rather than entire regions, are now divided into green, yellow, orange and red levels of severity of the spread of COVID-19. The authorities in districts, cities, and towns will have to tighten or relax quarantine restrictions in accordance with the new categories. The levels are based on four indicators that are reviewed every five days.
