Ukraine has identified 1,974 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said during his morning briefing on Aug. 27. As of 9 a.m., there are 55,439 active cases across Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine has recorded 49 deaths from COVID-19, 453 patients have been hospitalized and 763 people have recovered.
The largest numbers of new cases were recorded in the city of Kyiv (220) and in Kharkiv (218), Lviv (203), Odesa (185), Ivano-Frankivsk (164), Chernivtsi (159) and Ternopil (141) oblasts.

During the past 24 hours, laboratories have administered 20,730 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests across the country, Stepanov said during his briefing. They also carried out 20,564 antibody tests (IFA).
The total number of infections identified in the country since the start of the pandemic stands at 112,059. A total of 54,217 people have recovered and 2,403 have died of the disease.
Since Aug. 3, new rules for Ukraine’s COVID-19 quarantine have come into force: communities, rather than entire regions, are now divided into green, yellow, orange and red levels of severity of the spread of COVID-19. The authorities in districts, cities, and towns will have to tighten or relax quarantine restrictions in accordance with the new categories. The levels are based on four indicators that are reviewed every five days.
