Ukraine has recorded 800 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9:30 a.m. on July 11.
At the moment, there are 25,810 active cases in the country. The total number of infections in Ukraine stands at 52,843; a total of 25,661 citizens have recovered and 1,372 have died of the disease.
Among all cases registered in Ukraine, 3,802 are children and 7,261 are medical workers.
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine recorded 27 fatal cases of coronavirus; 155 patients have been hospitalized and 861 have recovered.
The highest numbers of new cases were registered in Kyiv (125), Lviv Oblast (119), and Zakarpattia Oblast (108).
A total of 12,565 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 14,594 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on July 11.
During the briefing, Stepanov also noted that Ukraine is conducting clinical trials of four domestic antiviral medicines – Amizon, Amixin, Corvitin and Biovin. If any prove effective, they can be used to treat COVID-19.
Globally, the number of daily cases broke a record on July 11 — over 562,800 have died and 7,4 million patients have recovered. The total number of infected people has surpassed 12.6 million as of July 11.
The United States, Brazil, India, and Russia are struggling the hardest to curb the spread of the disease.
Ukraine ranks 32nd in the world by the total number of cases but has done significantly fewer tests since the beginning of the outbreak compared to other countries.
