In total, 13,574 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 18,399 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on July 22.
Currently, four drugs produced by Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies are undergoing clinical trials, Stepanov said. These drugs may be useful in treating COVID-19, but their effectiveness is, so far, unproven.
Because the number of cases in the country is still high, Ukraine cannot lift all quarantine restrictions on July 31, as was previously planned. In an interview with the RBK-Ukraine news outlet on July 15, Stepanov said Ukraine will extend the COVID-19 quarantine until at least September.
Globally, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached over 15 million as of July 22; over 619,000 people have died and more than 9.1 million patients have recovered.
