Ukraine has recorded 847 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours as of 9 a.m. on July 18.

At the moment, there are 26,109 active cases in the country. The total number of infections identified in Ukraine since the start of the pandemic stands at 58,111; a total of 30,525 citizens have recovered and 1,477 have died of the disease.

Of all cases registered in Ukraine, 4,129 are children and 7,886 are medical workers.

In the past 24 hours, Ukraine recorded 21 new deaths from COVID-19, 70 patients have been hospitalized and 756 have recovered. The highest numbers of new cases were registered in Lviv Oblast (137), Kyiv (108), and Zakarpattia Oblast (89).

A total of 12,976 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were administered across the country during the past 24 hours. In addition, Ukrainian laboratories carried out 15,464 antibody tests (ELISA), Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at his morning briefing on July 18.

Because the number of cases in the country is still high, Ukraine cannot lift all quarantine restrictions on July 31, as was previously planned. In an interview with the RBK-Ukraine news outlet on July 15, Stepanov said Ukraine will extend the COVID-19 quarantine until at least September.

Globally, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached over 14 million as of July 17; over 599,451 people have died and 8.4 million patients have recovered.

The United States, Brazil, India, and Russia have the highest numbers of cases.
