You're reading: COVID-19 in Ukraine: Record-breaking 994 new cases, 16 deaths

The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ukraine has reached 40,008 as of 9 a.m. on June 25, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said at a morning press briefing.

Ukraine has identified a record-breaking 994 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, an increase from the 940 new cases recorded the previous day. The regions with the highest numbers of new cases are Lviv Oblast (204), Odesa Oblast (95) Zakarpattia Oblast (85) and the city of Kyiv (85).

Over the past 24 hours, 16 people have died of the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll from COVID-19 in the country up to 1,067.

Additionally, 349 patients have recovered, bringing country’s total number of recoveries to 17,758. Over the past 24 hours, 206 people have been hospitalized.

Among new COVID-19 cases, 64 are children and 103 are medical workers. A total of 2,936 children and 6,346 medical workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ukraine.

During his morning briefing on June 25, Stepanov said that Ukraine had performed 23,905 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours. That includes 13,015 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 10,890 antibody tests (IFA).
