- Ryanair begins flights to Ukraine. The Irish low-cost carrier finally launched flights from Kyiv to European cities after making a deal with Boryspil International Airport back in March after long negotiations.
- Poroshenko proposes to change the Constitution. President Petro Poroshenko filed a bill to parliament on Sept. 3 to make changes to Ukraine’s Constitution. Poroshenko proposes to define Ukraine’s foreign policy course as European and Euroatlantic in the Constitution and ban leasing Ukraine’s military bases to foreign countries. The parliament goes in session on Sept. 4.
- Prominent Ukrainian historian has been found murdered in his home city of Mykolaiv, police said on Sept. 2. He was known for his works on the Holodomor famine.
- Ukraine-NATO drills begin. Ukraine has begun joint military exercises with 10 NATO countries in western Ukraine. The drills, dubbed Rapid Trident 2018, include 2,200 troops and will run for two weeks.
- Squatters occupy a disputed building in Kyiv. An unlikely alliance of artists, soccer hooligans, and area residents have seized part of a building on Reitarska Street in Kyiv to protest a new home development.
- It’s fashion time. Ukrainian Fashion Week is taking place from Aug. 31 through Sept. 6 in Kyiv. Check out these photos from several of the leading shows.
