Olena Zelenska, the wife of President Volodymyr Zelensky, has recovered from the novel coronavirus and left the hospital in Kyiv, the President’s Office said on July 3.
Zelenska revealed on June 12 that she had tested positive for COVID-19. After receiving the news, she self-isolated from the president and their two underage children, who tested negative.
But five days later, on June 16, the first lady was hospitalized in a Kyiv hospital. She was diagnosed with double pneumonia of moderate severity.
Following his wife’s illness, the president didn’t self-isolate at home and continued working at his office on Bankova Street in central Kyiv. He said that he moved most of his work online and held remote meetings. He was tested for COVID-19 every day.
For two weeks, the President’s Office shared no updates about the condition of Zelenska.
Zelenska was one of the very few famous Ukrainians who publicly admitted to having been diagnosed with COVID-19.
As of July 3, 46,763 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ukraine; 1,212 of them died, and 20,558 recovered. There are nearly 25,000 active cases in Ukraine.
